I was told tonight at the AMC Mercardo in Santa Clara CA that they will no longer be excepting FilmMetro print at home tickets do to counterfeit tickets being used by other people. I'm wondering what's going to happen next? |

| I DK?

| I dont know what the big deal is if someone does counterfeit tickets to see a movie. It's not like the audience is paying to see the movie, the studio wants the movie full so why not let everyone in that wants to see the film. But yea I'm not sure what will happen....
Going to see Pineapple Express for the 3rd time Monday should be awesome and I'll ask them about that here in Orlando. |

| An id check...
|
| ..would seem to solve the "problem" of people using other people's tickets. IMO, giving someone else a ticket you can't use should not be considered a big deal. Making multiple copies of a ticket, though... which maybe people are doing, could be a more legitimate problem. Just speculating, but maybe that's been happening. Maybe they don't want to do id checks because it takes too much time and instead decided not to honor the tickets? Seems odd though...sketchy. |

| I was at Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants2 last night and some of the tickets people had were bar coded. Maybe that would help. |

| barcoding wouldn't help
|
| unless the theater had that technology.
Mushu, it is a big deal. If there are 500 seats and 1500 people show up, it is a mess for the theater to deal with it. Most of the time people are upset when they can't get in. Imagine 1000 people being turned away. Plus, some of the people who are in the theater got their passes from being dishonest. Why should that be rewarded?

| Hey I'm not saying I condone it, plus it says arrive early because they always expect more then the theater holds. I just that barcoding and everything is too much hassle, if they want to stop the copying of tickets they should just check id's like it says on the paper |

| Do you have any idea how long it would take to card them?
|
| I worked a screening last week. I know that at least two people gave duplicates, but the show was not at all full so I let it slide. But asking for ID would make it very difficult to continue to have screenings at smaller theaters that are just barely getting by financially as it is. At least one other person would have to be scheduled, and probably for a few hours to make it worthwhile for the person to come to work.
But you did write that you don't know what the big deal is. Try working a screening with an angry mob because their kids didn't get in free to see Enchanted and then get back to me. |

| print tickets
|
| This is what Landmark Theatres here in San Diego does. When you go to the theatre, you must present the passes, printed tickets, or whatever you have with you. When they have issued enough tickets to fill the theatre, that is where the line ends. Ushers tear real tickets for entry, thus eliminating the problem of not getting in. Also, Filmmetro tickets have a name on the top. If people are printing many tickets, it shouldn't take an id check to scan the tickets for the same name. Though an ID check shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. They check ID's at the box office for R ratings anyway, at least some theatres do. |
